HC Deb 11 December 1962 vol 669 c32W
37. Mr. Gough

asked the Minister of Public Building and Works if he will give an assurance that no further public highway extensions will be made in Hyde Park now or in the foreseeable future.

49. Mr. C. Johnson

asked the Minister of Public Building and Works if he will give an assurance that he will not allow any further highway extensions to be made in Hyde Park.

Mr. Rippon

I can assure my hon. Friend that there will be no surrender of the Royal Parks for such purposes as public highway extensions, unless this is clearly shown to be in the public interest and the benefit to be gained manifestly justifies the loss of amenity.
