35. Mr. Goodhew

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what arrangements are being made for residents in Kenya to retain their rights as British citizens after that Colony becomes independent.

Mr. Sandys

The question of citizenship will not arise in connection with the new constitution, which will give Kenya internal self-government. The problem of citizenship will have to be settled in the next stage when we come to make the arrangements for independence.
