HC Deb 11 December 1962 vol 669 c40W
Mr. Compton Carr

asked the Parliamentary Secretary for Science what is the annual sum at present being spent by Her Majesty's Government on research into the problem of autism in children.

Mr. Denzil Freeth

Research on the condition of infantile autism forms part of a larger programme of work on mental disorders in childhood carried out mainly in departments of child psychiatry and child health at teaching hospitals and at other hospitals where children are treated. For this reason, it is not possible to make a separate assessment of the amount of money spent on research on this specific condition.
