§ VISCOUNT FURNESSasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether, bearing in mind the Chinese occupation of Tibet, and recent incidents on the Sino-Indian border, an unofficial letter mailed to that country via India (as suggested by the Air Mail Leaflet issued by the General Post Office dated 1st December, 1962) would be likely to be delivered within fourteen days as therein stated.
§ LORD CHESHAMAt present it seems highly unlikely that an air mail letter would reach Tibet within fourteen days as suggested in theAir Mail Leaflet, but my right honourable friend the Postmaster General is seeking definite information from the Postal Administrations concerned and when this is available I shall write to the noble Viscount. Meantime, the Air Mail Leaflet and the Post Office Guide are being suitably amended. My right honourable friend has asked me to thank the noble Viscount for drawing attention to the matter.
