(4) what information is in the possession of his Department on the number of submarines owned by the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics;
(5) what information he has about the number of modern naval vessels owned by the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
§ Mr. ThorneycroftThe Soviet Army consists of about 160 line divisions of all kinds, of which 100 are in Eastern Europe, and has some 35,000 modern tanks with a similar number in reserve. The Soviet Navy has some 3,000 naval vessels including over 400 submarines. The U.S.S.R. possess about 17,500 aircraft of all types, including about 14,000 military aircraft.
