asked the Minister of Labour what was the increase or decrease in the number of persons employed in the railway wagon and carriage building industries of Scotland from 1951 to the latest available date.

Between mid-1951 and mid-1961 the number employed in the manufacture and repair of railway carriages and wagons and trams in Scotland is estimated to have fallen by about 1,100.
