asked the Minister of Transport whether he has plans for the construction of a motorway between north-east England and the Midlands.

Mr. Marples

Greatly improved connections between the north-east and the Midlands will be provided by the Durham-Darlington motorway, the reconstructed section of A.1 between Scotch Corner and the Doncaster Bypass, the Doncaster Bypass, the extension of M.1 and the construction of a link between it and M.6 at Birmingham.
