HC Deb 05 December 1962 vol 668 cc201-2W
Sir M. Galpern

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has imposed a ban on consultants, doctors and matrons becoming members of a hospital committee as has been done in the area controlled by the South East Metropolitan Regional Board.

Mr. Noble

The appointment of members to hospital boards of manage- ment is governed by the terms of section 11 and the Third Schedule to the National Health Service (Scotland) Act, 1947. Any such ban would be contrary to the intentions of the statute and I have imposed none.
