HC Deb 05 December 1962 vol 668 cc203-4W
Mr. John Hall

asked the Secretary of State for Air if, when Chalgrove Airfield was sold to Martin Baker Aircraft Ltd., a clause was inserted in the conveyance requiring the company to offer the land back to the original owners at current agricultural land prices when the airfield is no longer required for the testing and manufacture of ejector seats.

Mr. H. Fraser

The sale of this airfield has not yet been completed. It is not intended to insert a clause of this nature in the conveyance because it would not be legally enforceable, but the Company have given a written undertaking that they will offer the airfield land back to the former owners for agriculture at the market price then ruling when their use of it comes to an end.
