§ 70. Mr. Iremongerasked the Minister of Labour what success he has met with in his efforts to encourage employers in and around Ilford to provide increased apprenticeship opportunities to match the exceptionally large numbers of school leavers this year.
§ Mr. HareUp to the end of October 204 boys and 121 girls obtained apprenticeships in Ilford compared with 251 boys and 105 girls in the same period of 1961.
§ 71. Mr. Iremongerasked the Minister of Labour if he will make a statement on the Government's policy for apprenticeships and the current situation and outlook in this respect.
§ Mr. HareIn the first ten months of this year 110,800 boys entered apprenticeships. This was 9,600 or 9.5 per cent. more than in the corresponding period last year which was itself a record.
Government proposals for the future of industrial training including apprenticeship are contained in a Command Paper which is being published today.
