HC Deb 04 December 1962 vol 668 c151W
46. Mr. Emrys Hughes

asked the Parliamentary Secretary for Science if he will give an approximate estimate of the number of scientists who have emigrated during the last five years; and what proposals he has for attracting them back to this country.

Mr. Denzil Freeth

I refer the hon. Member for the figures to my reply to the hon. Member for Sunderland, North (Mr. Willey) of 2nd July; and for the second half of his Question to my reply to the hon. Member for Barnsley (Mr. Mason) of 28th May. The Interviewing Board to which I referred in the latter reply now recruits for the Central Electricity Generating Board as well. Preliminary results for 1962 indicate that the Interviewing Board has had its most successful year so far.
