§ 79. Mr. Morrisasked the Secretary for Technical Co-operation what assessment he has made of scientific and technical help that will be needed by developing countries in 1965.
§ Mr. VosperIn general, assistance for developing countries in the scientific and technical fields is provided in response to individual requests from the Governments of those countries, and it is not normally possible to quantify these in advance. In the particular field of scientific research, a programme of assistance is being drawn up involving an expenditure of up to £1,850,000 a year over the three years 1963–66.
In the field of technical education, the Council for Technical Education and Training in Overseas Countries is making a survey with a view to providing an assessment of some of the more urgent needs. So far as university staff are concerned, the Committee for University Secondments is in close and continuing touch with overseas Vice-Chancellors as to their recruitment needs.
