HC Deb 03 December 1962 vol 668 c133W
80. Mr. Parker

asked the Minister of Education whether he is aware that a number of education authorities have cancelled free school meals following the recent increase in National Assistance allowances; and whether he will ask those authorities to give those concerned the full benefit of the increased allowances.

Sir E. Boyle

I am aware that the increased National Assistance allowances may have the effect of making some pupils ineligible for free school meals under authorities' income scales. I am looking into the particular case the hon. Member has brought to my notice.

The answer to the second part of the Question is that local education authorities know that I am always ready to consider proposals for the revision of their scales of assessment.
