HC Deb 02 August 1962 vol 664 cc122-3W
52. Sir W. Teeling

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if, in view of the fact that the powers conferred on local authorities by the Riding Establishments Act, 1939, are not being sufficiently exercised, he will introduce legislation to give him the power to control riding establishments.

Mr. Woodhouse

No. I have no evidence that local authorities are not prepared to exercise their powers under the Act when suitable cases are brought to their notice.
