HC Deb 02 August 1962 vol 664 c125W
64. Mr. F. Noel-Baker

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what consideration he has given to the communication from the hon. Member or Swindon about Thornbury House Remand Home at Kidlington, Oxford, and what action he will take to deal with Roman Catholic boys detained in this home.

Mr. Fletcher-Cooke

The difficulties at this remand home are mainly due to the shortage of places in approved schools, particularly in those for Roman Catholic boys. Vigorous action is being taken to provide more places in existing schools and to establish new schools. I am writing to the hon. Member giving my detailed comments on the points raised in the letter which he forwarded to me.
