§ 89. Mr. G. M. Thomsonasked the Secretary for Technical Co-operation what assistance he is now giving the Government of Nyasaland in regard to the supply of British teachers to assist in their educational development programme.
§ Mr. VosperApart from financial assistance under the Colonial Development and Welfare Act, this assistance takes three main forms. First, recruitment of British teachers by my Department. Second, funds available to my Department under the Overseas Service Aid Scheme relieve Nyasaland of the expatriate element of the cost of British educational staff in the Nyasaland 147W Government service. Third, my Department organises special arrangements for particular needs, such as the supply of three high level teachers this summer to run special teacher training courses, in which I have had valuable help from the British Council. I and my Department have discussed Nyasaland's needs in detail with the Minister of Education of Nyasaland during his visits to this country.
