HC Deb 02 August 1962 vol 664 c126W
Sir Richard Glyn

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many puppies were bred by the ten alsatians imported by the Metropolitan Police in 1960; how many of these puppies were trained for police work and with what results; and how many rejects were disposed of and at what price.

Mr. Brooke

42 puppies have been bred from nine of the ten alsatians imported by the Metropolitan Police from Germany in 1960. The other dog had to be destroyed. Eleven of the puppies have recently completed their training, and I am informed that their temperament is very satisfactory, although it is too early to give detailed results. Four of the puppies have been disposed of for ten guineas each; the remainder are still under training.
