HC Deb 02 August 1962 vol 664 cc116-7W
34. Mr. Darling

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will introduce regulations under the Consumer Protection Act to provide safety standards for life-jackets, especially for the use of persons sailing in small boats.

Mr. Woodhouse

I understand that the British Standards Institution is preparing a standard specification for such life-jackets. It would not be practicable to make regulations under the Act until a suitable specification is available.
