HC Deb 02 August 1962 vol 664 c154W
Mr. G. Johnson Smith

asked the Minister of Public Building and Works whether he will now announce the appointment of an architect for the British Museum Library scheme.

Mr. Rippon

Following consultations with the Trustees of the British Museum and with the then President of the Royal Institution of British Architects, I have decided to ask Professor Sir Leslie Martin, M.A., F.R.I.B.A. and Mr. Colin A. St. John Wilson, M.A., A.R.I.B.A. to act as consultants for the preparation of a plan for the development of the site and a design for the building. They were selected from a number of architects with experience in the field of library design.
