§ 85. Mr. Wingfield Digbyasked the Parliamentary Secretary for Science whether he will direct the Atomic Energy Authority to devote itself less exclusively to the problems of the Central Electricity Generating Board and more to the development of reactors suitable for other purposes, including ship propulsion.
§ Mr. Denzil FreethNo. My noble Friend has approved the Authority's present civil research and development programme which is a balanced one, reflecting the importance of the various civil applications of atomic energy. The programme is, however, kept under continual review and the balance of effort between projects is adjusted as necessary in the light of progress and experience.
