HC Deb 19 April 1962 vol 658 c95W
Mr. Awbery

asked the Minister of Education, in view of the facts that a definite undertaking had been given to the Bristol Education Committee that the St. Mary Redcliffe Secondary School was to be constructed next year, and that a school in this area is needed, and in view of the damaging effect that his decision to change this proposal has had on local confidence in future promises, if he will now reconsider his decision not to proceed with this building.

Sir D. Eccles

I have discussed this project with representatives of the Church and of the authority, and I explained to them why I am unable to reinstate it in the 1963–64 building programme.
