§ 62. Mr. Sorensenasked the Minister of Labour to what extent employment vacancies registered at employment exchanges cannot be filled owing to the inability of potential or actual applicants for such employment to find accommodation; and to what extent exchange managers are encouraged to assist in the provision of suitable accommodation in those circumstances.
§ Mr. GreenDifficulties in finding accommodation in areas of high labour demand do tend to restrict the mobility of labour but exchanges filled over 175,000 jobs outside their local areas in the twelve months ended 7th March, 1962. Employment exchanges where necessary maintain lists of available lodgings and are encouraged to be as helpful as possible to workers seeking accommodation.
