§ 55. Mr. A. Robertsasked the Minister of Labour if he will appoint a committee to investigate the possibility of reducing the period of apprenticeship from five years to a shorter period in certain industries.
§ Mr. GreenBoth sides of our two major apprentice-employing industries, engineering and construction, are already at my right hon. Friend's request examining this possibility. We do not think that the creation of a new committee would help at this stage, but we shall do all we can to see that all possible ways of improving our traditional apprenticeship system are carefully considered.
