§ Sir Richard Pilkingtonasked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance in what circumstances a pension is payable to a person completely incapacitated by poliomyelitis.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterA war pension and appropriate allowances are payable if the poliomyelitis is either attributable to or aggravated by war service or peace time service since 3rd September, 1939. Industrial Injuries benefits are payable if the poliomyelitis is caused by an accidental infection arising out of and in the course of an employee's work. Provided certain minimum contribution conditions are satisfied people who are 63W incapable of work as the result of poliomyelitis, or for that matter any other disease, are entitled to National Insurance sickness benefit which is unlimited in duration. At pension age sickness benefit is replaced by retirement pension.
