HC Deb 17 April 1962 vol 658 cc37-8W
70. Mr. J. Howard

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs if he will make a further statement regarding the number of appeals under Section 16 of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1947, which were decided by him during 1961 in respect of England and Wales, Hampshire, and Southampton, respectively; and how many of these appeals were dismissed.

Mr. Rippon

I regret that my reply to my hon. Friend's Question on this subject on 6th March contained some figures which were inaccurate and I welcome this opportunity to correct them. According to the Department's records, in 1961 the number of planning appeals decided was 7,566 in England and Wales, 328 in Hampshire and 15 in Southampton; of these 5,650, 257 and 14, respectively, were dismissed.
