Mr. Fletcherasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether talks have now taken place, as the Prime Minister indicated on 27th October, 1960, between Ministers and the Trustees of the British Museum with regard to reviewing the constitution of the British Museum, in the light of its present functions and operations.
§ Sir E. BoyleTalks have taken place covering a number of matters, and further talks will be held when occasion arises. Her Majesty's Government intend to raise with the principal trustees before very long the question of the constitution.
§ Mr. Rankinasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer to how many meetings of the British Museum Trustees Government Trustees have been summoned since January, 1960; and how many meetings each has attended.
§ Sir E. BoyleSince January, 1960, Official Trustees who are members of50W the Government have been invited to seven meetings at Bloomsbury and six at South Kensington. Eleven of the Government Trustees attended one meeting each at Bloomsbury and one of these also attended a meeting at South Kensington.
