Mr. Sydney Irving

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs how many of the plants under supervision by the Alkali Inspectorate because of scheduling under the Alkali, etc., Works Regulation Act, 1906, are situated in the counties of Kent and Essex, respectively; and how many of these are cement plants.

Dr. Hill

In Kent 56 works, including 10 cement works, and in Essex 65 works, including 4 cement works, are registered under the Alkali Act.

In England and Wales 3,180 processes at 2,047 works are registered under the Alkali Act.
