HC Deb 12 April 1962 vol 657 c156W
45. Mr. Gower

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what plans he has for removing the remaining air-raid shelters which were erected before or during the Second World War.

Mr. Renton

It continues to be the policy of the Government to preserve sound air-raid shelters as far as possible. My right hon. Friend is, however, always prepared to consider whether in an individual case there are compelling grounds for authorising removal at public expense.
