HC Deb 11 April 1962 vol 657 cc129-30W
Mr. Bossom

asked the Minister of Transport what action he proposes to take on the recommendation made in the report, details of which have been sent to him, of the London and Home Counties Regional Advisory Council for Technological Education on transport in the region, that there is a need for the provision of more qualified traffic engineers in the region.

Mr. Marples

The report was addressed to the local education authorities for London and the home counties. With the rapid and continuing growth of traffic and the need to make the best use of the existing road systems in towns there should be growing scope for traffic measures. There are already courses for traffic engineers at several Universities and technical colleges and the Institution of Civil Engineers is preparing a syllabus for a two-year course for technicians.
