HC Deb 09 April 1962 vol 657 c80W
61. Mr. Wade

asked the Minister of Health how many beds in hospitals in England and Wales are at present not occupied owing to shortage of staff.

Mr. Powell

Beds returned as "unused for lack of staff" totalled 9,849 at 30th September, 1961; but this total includes wards closed for other reasons and not intended to be brought into use again. I am considering how the returns can be improved.
