§ Mr. MaudlingThe present political and security situation in Northern Rhodesia was dealt with in the debate on 19th October by my right hon. Friend the Commonwealth Secretary and myself. The security situation continues to improve, although the Governor is not yet in a position to advise me that disorder has ceased. I am in consultation with the Governor who is investigating any specific allegations that have been made against the conduct of the Police. As soon as he can report to me I will see that an account of these matters is given to the House.
