HC Deb 24 October 1961 vol 646 cc82-3W
Mr. du Cann

asked the Civil Lord of the Admiralty if he will state the number of naval officers since 1st January, 1955, who have been tried by courts-martial under circumstances where the Judge Advocate was neither a member of the Bar nor a qualified solicitor; where the officers on trial, if civilians, would have been tried by a criminal court; and where the officers on trial stood in jeopardy, if convicted, of imprisonment or dismissal from the service.

Mr. C. Ian Orr-Ewing

I regret that the information cannot be compiled in the time available; I will write to the hon. Member as soon as I am in a position to do so.
