§ Mr. HareThis summer, 331,000 school leavers were reported to youth employment offices—45,000 more than8W last year. On 11th September, 14,000 school leavers or 4.2 per cent., were still registered for their first employment, the same percentage as at the corresponding date last year. In the first 9 months of this year, 491,000 young persons entered employment, 31,000 more than in the first 9 months of 1960. The number of boys getting apprenticeships or learner-ships was 97,900 or 38.4 per cent., as against 86,950 or 36 per cent., in the corresponding period of 1960.
