HC Deb 27 November 1961 vol 650 c14W
97. Mr. Parker

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will introduce legislation to stop the playing of transistor radios in all buses, trains and coaches.

Mr. Marples

No, sir. British Railways' byelaws and my regulations for the conduct of passengers on buses and coaches already forbid the use of radios when they annoy other persons. A complete ban would be unfair, for there may be times when all passengers in a compartment or coach would like to listen to a radio.
