§ Mr. Owenasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs how many prosecutions of individuals and how many of corporate bodies, respectively, have been instituted since the passing of the Litter Act; and whether he is satisfied with the operation of the Act.
§ Mr. RipponThe statistics of prosecutions under the Act kept by my right hon. Friend the Home Secretary show that up to the end of 1960 there had been 5,317 prosecutions in England and Wales. The records kept make no distinction between individuals and corporate bodies. My right hon. Friend is satisfied that the Act is making a useful contribution to the anti-litter campaign.
