§ Mr. Maginnisasked the President of the Board of Trade what joint tariff reviews have been or are being carried out by Her Majesty's Government and the Government of the Irish Republic pursuant to the 1960 Trade Agreement with the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. ErrollIn accordance with their general undertaking in Article III of the Trade Agreement of 1960, the Government of the Irish Republic, after consultation with Her Majesty's Government have instituted reviews of the protective duties on imports from the United Kingdom of the following items:
- Wheaten breakfast foods.
- Full chrome hide upper leather.
- Cotton bags and sacks.
- Braid.
- Wood furniture.
- Glazed and vitrified domestic pottery.
- Floor tiles.
- Files.
- Textile floor coverings.
- Drinking glasses.
The results of three of these reviews have so far been published. The duty on wheaten breakfast foods imported from the United Kingdom has been reduced from 66⅔ per cent. to 25 per cent. and on full chrome hide upper leather from 50 per cent. to 15 per cent. The duty on cotton bags and sacks remains unchanged.
