§ Mr. John Hallasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs what should be the annual rate of house and flat building over the next 20 years to meet the needs of all families requiring houses, to replace slums and to eradicate overcrowding.
Dr. HillThe best estimate I can make is that if in the whole of Great Britain we could continue building at the rate of about 300,000 houses and flats a year, we should, over the next 20 years, meet the needs as we at present see them—though even then I do not think that we should have replaced all the slums.
