Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware of the damaging effect on the British fishing industry of the use by foreign fishing vessels of British fishing grounds such as those in the Moray Firth; and what action Her Majesty's Government propose to take to prevent such damage.
§ Mr. MaclayI am aware that foreign vessels do from time to time fish in the Moray Firth and other areas adjacent to the British coast, but I have no information about the extent of their catches. Her Majesty's Government are keeping United Kingdom policy on fishery limits under review in the light of all relevant factors.
