§ Mr. Iremongerasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is yet able to make a statement on the report of the Streatfeild Committee on the Business of the Criminal Courts.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerThe Government are in general agreement with the recommendations of the Streatfeild Committee. Legislation will be required on certain matters, and I am not yet in a position to say when this can be introduced. My noble and learned Friend the Lord Chancellor and I now propose to consult those concerned, with a view to implementing as soon as possible certain of the recommendations which do not require legislation.
