§ 56. Mr. Prenticeasked the Minister of Transport what reply he has made to the recent letter sent to him by the East Ham Borough Council on the need for a public inquiry into the operations of the London Transport Executive; and what replies he made to other recent representations on this subject from public authorities in the Greater London area.
§ Mr. MarplesOn 1st March, I told the hon. Member for Islington, East (Mr. Fletcher) that I had come to the conclusion that an inquiry would not serve any useful purpose at that stage. I have considered the letter from East Ham Borough Council and similar representations from other bodies, but see no reason to change this view.
