§ Mr. F. Noel-Bakerasked the Minister of Health what provision he is making for an increase in the number of places available for old people in convalescent homes, in view of the difficulty experienced in placing people over 70 years of age in such homes.
§ Mr. PowellHospital authorities are responsible for the convalescent care of old people who need it after active hospital treatment. They provide it either by contractual arrangements or in premises of their own. They were asked in October, 1959, to review their arrangements, and to consider what priority they should give to any increased provision they thought necessary. If the hon. Member has any particular case in mind I shall be glad to consider it.
