HC Deb 02 May 1961 vol 639 c96W
Mr. Willis

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many miles of class 1 roads had been reconstructed under the Crofter Counties Roads Scheme by 1955; and how many miles have been reconstructed in each year since then.

Mr. Maclay

By the end of 1955–56 the reconstruction of 548 miles of road had been completed under the Crofter Counties programme. The mileage completed under the programme in each of the five financial years since then has been:

Year 1956–57 1957–58 1958–59 1959–60 1960–61
Mileage completed 18 15 6 4 19

At 1st April, 1961, 64 miles were under reconstruction or had been authorised.

Note

The figures relate to all schemes completed under the programme, i.e. on Class I roads and on roads which were Class I at its inception but which later became trunk roads.
