HC Deb 02 May 1961 vol 639 c101W
Mr. Mason

asked the Postmaster-General how many prototypes of the new telephone kiosks are on order; when and where they will be on trial; for how long they will be tried; and when he will be placing orders for a substantial number to replace the antiquated kiosks now in use.

Mr. Bevins

Six prototypes are on order, and I hope to have them by the end of the year. I shall be reviewing the position six months later. Until then I cannot say what orders will be placed, whether for new kiosks or for replacements. I have not yet decided on the localities for the trials, but these will include London.
