HC Deb 02 May 1961 vol 639 c99W
61. Mr. Peart

asked the Postmaster-General if he will give details of the British proposals for a communications satellite research programme.

Miss Pike

The Post Office is co-operating with other bodies in a wide-ranging programme. This covers orbits, altitudes and frequencies, and the design of the electronic equipment in the communication satellites themselves. The first requirement is a ground station for joint experiments with the Americans in satellite communications across the Atlantic.

If the hon. Member would like further information on particular aspects of the programme and will let my right hon. Friend know, we will gladly try to supply it.
