HC Deb 30 March 1961 vol 637 c152W
39. Mr. Peart

asked the Minister of Education what steps he proposes to take to improve the teaching of mathematics in primary and secondary schools.

Sir D. Eccles

Her Majesty's Inspectors are always examining ways of improving the teaching of mathematics, and giving advice to the schools. A variety of courses are available for serving teachers of mathematics, many of which are organised by or with the help of H.M. Inspectors. I would refer the hon. Member to the Answer I gave him on 16th March about increasing the supply of well-qualified teachers of mathematics.
