§ Mr. Ellis Smithasked the Minister of Labour if he is aware of the relative worsening rate of wages of pattern-makers and other skilled engineers in relation to all others; and if he will study the statistical evidence supplied by himself and his predecessors with a view to the appointment of a committee to consider and recommend what the relations should be with the payments of salaries received by others, and to suggest action which would make the wages of patternmakers, toolmakers and other skilled engineers commensurate with the knowledge and skill required.
§ Mr. HareI am aware that there have been many changes in relative wage rates in past years including those referred to by the hon. Member. I do92W not think that the appointment of a committee on the lines suggested would be a useful step to take.
