asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what progress has been made so far with the Great Ouse flood protection scheme.

As stated in reply to the hon. Member on 16th February, 1960, Part I of the scheme is completed and it is expected that Part II will be finished by the autumn of this year. Work on Part III, the Cut-off-Channel, started in August last and, in spite of the recent very wet weather, good progress has been made.
