HC Deb 21 March 1961 vol 637 c30W
54. Mr. Boyden

asked the Prime Minister why the Prime Minister of Sierra Leone was not invited to the Commonwealth Prime Ministers' Conference.

The Prime Minister

It would not have been appropriate for Sierra Leone to be represented at a meeting of Commonwealth Prime Ministers before she had attained her independence and been admitted to full membership of the Commonwealth. I am sure that we all welcome the agreement of the Commonwealth Prime Ministers to the admission of an independent Sierra Leone to the Commonwealth.
