HC Deb 20 March 1961 vol 637 c10W
90. Mr. Pentland

asked the Minister of Power whether he is now in a position to report on the result of his investigations into the siting of a new power station or power stations on or near the Durham coalfield.

Mr. George

My right hon. Friend has been in touch with the Central Electricity Generating Board and has been informed that the first set at the new 1,200 MW station now being built at Blyth will be brought into service in 1962 and the other three sets by 1965. The Board at present has no other plans for stations in the North-East of England.
