Mr. Lawson

asked the Minister of Labour what were the numbers of employees in the steel-making industry of Lanarkshire at mid-1957, 1958, 1959, and 1960, showing separately, men, boys under 18 years of age, and women and girls.

Mr. P. Thomas,

pursuant to his reply [OFFICIAL REPORT, 13th March, 1961; Vol 636, c. 85–6], supplied the following statement:

Figures for mid-1960 will not be ready for a few weeks and I will write to the hon. Member as soon as they are available. Figures for 1957, 1958 and 1959 are given in the following tables:
